Rosemary ( Rosmarinus officialis ) is a small evergreen shrub and native of Southern Europe. It grows wild on
dry rocky hills along the Mediterranean coast. The crop is cultivated in Nilgiri hills of south India17.It grows as a small shrub as a
small shrud with a perennial folige and small leaves. A shruddy and branched evergreenbush that grows up to 2-3 height.Steam
distilled with steam distillation of fresh leaves and flowering tops yield 1-2% oilyield. Most of the oil is produced from dried leaves
in Spain and Tunisia. Tha oil can be distilled by hydrodistillation thatare direct fired or by steam distillation. Disitillation by steam
boiler operated stills gives higher yield and deter quality of oil.Usually, longer distillation period produced oils with contents of
sesquiterpenoids having less appreciable odour. The oil contains monoterpenes, oxygenated monoterpenes, aliphatic and

Use: Cypriol is an herbaceous plant with morphology similar to papyrus plants, as both plants are members of the Cyperus genus. The erect, angular stems bear short, slender, brilliant-green leaves. The aromatic rhizomes form a dense root system. The plants grow in riverbeds in India’s Madhya Pradesh state. To produce the essential oil, the roots and rhizomes are harvested from April to June by members of neighboring tribes.
